Pop Smoke Coffee Co Rebrand

Pop Smoke is a brand started by Brent Davis. He loves coffee and wants to help small veteran-owned businesses. Many vendors want to work with him, so he needed a new look for his company. He knows that having a unique brand is important, so he decided to change the visuals for Pop Smoke. He wants every cup of coffee to show support for veterans. Pop Smoke is doing well, and Davis is still focused on his mission. Both coffee lovers and veterans enjoy the coffee and partnerships.

I focused on preserving Pop Smoke's recognizable brand while adding more style. It was important to keep what resonated with their audience but also embrace change and growth. The label design had to be simple and easy to navigate for working with new vendors and creating new blends. I wanted to highlight Pop Smoke as a veteran-owned business by incorporating military elements to showcase its origins and values. This rebrand aimed to merge old and new, symbolizing growth and authenticity.

Logos & Additional Marks

When I considered incorporating coffee elements into the logo while keeping the grenade from the original design, I aimed to infuse a playful and unique touch. The concept of Pop Smoke, military jargon for quickly leaving a location, resonated with me, as it aligned with the energy that caffeine provides to get up and start the day. I wanted to capture this synergy in the logo, symbolizing a burst of energy that propels you forward. Moreover, I wanted to develop additional marks and imagery that would be versatile and adaptable for different purposes and backgrounds, ensuring ease of use and consistency across various collateral.

Color Palette & Typography

This design concept's color palette is inspired by military colors, using darker forest greens as the base. The deep, rich tones give a feeling of strength and resilience. To add visual interest and contrast, pops of color are strategically placed. These bright accents enhance the design, injecting energy and personality. The mix of muted military colors and bold highlights creates a balanced and appealing look.

The chosen typography for the project represents a futuristic and modern military style. We used Kufam, a bold and sleek typeface with sharp angles and clean lines, to convey strength and sophistication. Roboto Black was added for a bold and clear look that reinforces the military theme. Code Saver was also included to give a technical touch and enhance the tech vibe. These typographic choices form a composition that captures the essence of a modern military look.

Label

The inception of the first label was driven by the desire for a sleek aesthetic that would seamlessly accommodate the roast date inscription. By employing a minimalist design, they ensured that the label would be easy to digest, enabling customers to quickly grasp the finer details of the blend they were purchasing. This clever combination of form and function harmoniously merged practicality with visual appeal, offering an elegant solution for an informative and engaging label.
